@trans_caracal be careful to read the fine print though. sex work is "legal" in Germany, but "legal" means you need to apply for a special licence which would imply, among other things, extra State surveillance and a free pass for the police to harass you in your own house. and some fun surprises like, I have the whore passport, my gf has the whore passport, my gf moves in with me > now our house qualifies as a "brothel". (I know of a Brazilian woman in the UK who was arrested as a "pimp" on those grounds, thereby being taken away from her children, who she was working to support to begin with).

this increased policing is a favourite pretext to humiliate immigrants in places like Berlin and send sex workers straight back to where they escaped from. for someone like me who already is at increased police risk for political reasons, it would be shooting my own leg.

this is why sex worker movements fight for "decriminalisation" and not "legalisation", the law is never on the side of marginals.

@hadley I feel like the biggest threat to kids safety and well being is their parents, so I really hate that virtually all of these online child safety bills are just making kids more vulnerable to that. If we want to protect kids, we should educate them about grooming, make sure online spaces have decent moderation, and make sure there are good support systems in place that are easy to access.
