#Americans should know what most Mexicans and Colombians already do: the drug #cartels are operated from the USA.

A bunch of journalists, Anabel Hernández, José Restrepo, Guillermo Sherer, Carlos Fazio, have done research on the cartels, and all them have reached the point where it's the Mexican government, Army and Navy the ones that operate the cartels, either directly or by omission. But it doesn't end there.

Do you know that when Chinese citizens travel to US for business or academic visits, many used to hide/delete social media apps when entering borders? Because they were facing the exact same threats as you do today.

Same for pre-flight checks, Chinese are among those who had to go through a full body search like Middle Easterners.

These bullshit were already there in US, they just weren’t evenly distributed.

Insisting that "things change" without deeply understanding the reason that things were built the way they were built originally is the attitude of every junior developer I've ever worked with who thinks "we'll just rewrite everything from scratch because I can't be bothered to understand the legacy code".

I'm sure the systemd team isn't all terrible developers, but the fact remains that the problem they want to solve is what is good for their employers: make some monolithic conglomeration of components.

I'm also convinced at least a significant portion of the reason the corporate masters want to glue everything into Systemd is because it got licensed with LGPL, and not GPL, and corps hate GPL.

Gender is a lot like operating systems. People always assume you use one of the two big proprietary ones and if you don't, you're gonna have to deal with a lot of confusion and compatibility issues. On the plus side you get a lot more customisability and don't have to care about bullshit policies of the proprietary options.
