Folks will continue to litigate the federated social web because of some fever dream of what they think early Twitter was like when, in reality, the idea of a massively scaled, fully moderated, global social network will absolutely Never Ever Happen.

It's not a flaw if it doesn't get there-- It takes massive capital to just pretend to get close. The flaw is that people continue to expect and value size. We've poisoned the potential for community because we refuse to accept it being small.

If Kamala was president:

The situation in Gaza wouldn't be different.

War with Iran would still be on the table.

China would still be demonized and provoked.

Yemen would still be bombed.

The US would still have the largest prison population, and a for profit prison industrial complex.

The bombs falling on Arab children would still be "made in the USA"

But middle class liberals would all be at brunch.

If you think that the only thing wrong with the USA is that now they have a fascist president and a boer head eunuch, then let me tell you you're part of the problem. 4 months ago they had a Liberal government and they were funding and facilitating a genocide, passing legislation against "domestic terrorism", arming proxies on endless wars, and so on.

So no, Cheeto Mussolini and his sidekick Apartheid Emeralds boy are a symptom, not the illness.

The illness is called capitalism.

Being trans is demoralizing right now because we had a brief period where we were treated almost like human beings and then everyone abandoned us. Because our rights are "frivolous." There are too few of us. We don't matter. We're "weird," "gross," "fake." All any of us wanted was to live authentically and largely anonymously. And instead there's a giant fucking spotlight on us every single day, blaming us for Trump and reminding us we're not welcome. And our cis "allies" mostly don't care.
