When yourself and everyone you know is always sick, being sick becomes normalized. Must be that "new normal" we were promised!

Living like it's 2019 and being constantly sick is the "new normal" that won out over PPE and increased indoor air quality. This is the "new normal" they want us to live in, with zero mention of COVID to spare their "mental health". This is the "new normal" and the cost of (largely) unmitigated viral spread.

I can't accept that.

I won't accept that.

Someone dropped off a massive food rescue haul to our free fridge and community pantry today.

They're not part of my program and we're not sure who's doing it. This is awesome. It means there are others outside of our volunteer group that does maintenance on the fridges and outside of the group that I'm working with to build out our formal food rescue program.

This is huge.

This means we have successfully built post-scarcity *infrastructure*!!!

Folks are using our fridges both to contribute and to utilize. Folks that have nothing to do directly with the core group of maintainers. Wow.

We need to build more free fridges. This one is running out of room.

its really weird how like. if you ever watch any kind of normie content of any kind. like you're watching some thing about interior design. and then they just start talking about "well men are like this, and women are like this" and im like what the fuck is going on. i thought this was supposed to be about interior design???? you flip to a cookery show. and the hosts just unprompted start chatting like "well men like to cook like this, but women? they all like to-" like what the fuck is going on

Growing up people would make fun of where I'm from calling it "cereal." When trying to explain where it was no one knew, so after many tried and failed attempts I started to tell them it was close to the pyramids in Egypt because people at least usually had heard of those. Obviously my age had a lot to do with it, but even as I got older it was very rare for anyone to actually know anything about our culture that they didn't hear or see on the news.

I went over to my friends house the other night who is not Arab and doesn't speak Arabic, and when I got there they were bumping Arabic music. The other day another friend texted me asking what something meant in Arabic because they heard it on Love Is Blind Habibi, and now they're asking me for Arabic mossalsal recommendations lol
