Two US Army APC's leaving the Ajo border patrol station headed south this morning. First I've seen of the military here near the border. These appeared to be Stryker M1127 Reconnaissance Vehicles based on my best Wikipedia guess.

I regretfully have to head north for a few months this morning or I would have followed them down and gotten some shots of them driving around doing nothing along the border wall.

Because there's literally nothing to do there. This is all a silly photo op and part of the larger performance of border theater. I even feel a little bad posting photos here because, in my own insignificant way, it plays to the narrative. I mean, if the army is there with all this hardware, then there must be a problem, right?

I hope these guys don't get too bored and start driving these things across the desert smashing over saguaro cactus the way the national guard did when they were here back around 2008.

The #microbiology society has a very curious system. So there are eukaryotes, prokaryots, viruses and Irish, do I get it right?

Yankees in particular have a nasty habit of "both-side-ing" issues in way that sneak up on you. I've seen several people point to the case of Nicola Murray and say something like "See? If we say that the few trans people who commit crimes are proof that all trans people are dangerous, then all TERFs are just as bad as Nicola Murray. Now I bet you TERFs see the error in your thinking." But this is a mistake in a fundamental way: trans people are just a demographic, contrary to what the hysterics say there isn't a uniting ideology or belief set to trans people, any more than there is for blonde people or people with glasses or whatever. Trans people aren't united along a particular politics or worldview, or even particular united, but rather trans people exist as a group insofar as it has been recognized by the group that there is a commonality of experiences and treatment by society, both positive and negative, that basically already treated group members in a particular way.

TERFs are not like that. They are a group defined by broad ideological agreement and political goals. They espouse an overlapping, fairly united worldview, at least in regards to the issue they organize around. They are not a particular demographic group, they are an ideological one. That has totally, entirely different implications.

Trans criminals aren't representative of all trans people because there isn't any sort of causal connection there, the group being indicated is just a bunch of random people. But TERF abusers *are* related to the ideological commitments of TERFism; the will to dominate, the belief in the ownership of the bodies of others, etc. The beliefs, politics, and organizing efforts of TERFs attract abusers *because* it is an ideology and politics that is beneficial to them. It lets abusers go after women and children while claiming to be defenders of women and children, it lets abusers celebrate sexual assault while claiming to be against sexual assault, it celebrates those who isolate and abuse their children and often provides detailed instructions for doing so, it gives abusers way to attack mandatory reporters and the broader support networks that a child might try to reach out to, it provides means to silence victims and muzzle those that would help them, and much more.

These are not two groups that are directly comparable, they are fundamentally unlike each other. It would be like trying to draw comparisons between people with glasses and the Republican party; these two groups are not the same kind of thing, there's a hidden error happening there.

Friends, I don’t know how to explain this any more simply: there can be no such thing as an anarchist prison.

Either there is some coercive institution with a privileged relationship to violence that can put you in a cage, or there isn’t.

Prisons are not some neutral tool that could theoretically be used by a community for self-defense from aggressors, but just so happen to be used everywhere by states as tools of oppressive rule.

Musk is seeding this story in order to try to stem the hemorrhaging at Tesla. He’s already said that he will ‘have to’ remain involved with DOGE to stop the ‘massive fraud and waste’ he’s uncovered from coming ‘rushing back’ the second he leaves.

Stop repeating his lies.

As a non-binary person, I've long believed that equality laws are flawed to begin with, because my own existence wasn't recognised.

Now I plan to fight.

One day, I will have passed what I call the Gender Nullification Act, which will erase all legal distinction of sex or gender, recognising only medical differences.

We will not have separation of the genders, or sexes. We will recognise the intellectual, creative and personal freedoms deserved by everyone.

Intersex people will be recognised.

To everybody who believes “Well google already knows everything about you, so why does it matter if some other company collects data”
