Don’t talk to me about the inherent goodness of humanity– it’s the grossest form of centrism.

Do you believe in the inherent goodness of Nazis? Hopefully not.

Then either humans aren’t inherently good or you’ll have to define everyone you hate as “not human”, which is frankly exactly what all the most murderous of shitheads do to their victims.

@daggers_drawn You can recognize that humans have the potential for great good, community, and love while also realizing the potential of humanity being weaponized for bigotry. Both sides exist on the same coin of humanity.

It doesn't mean I need to respect people based on the possibility of their humanity, but instead respect their actual actions.

@daggers_drawn I would argue that everyone has the inborn capacity for good, and that as a species we should cultivate that. I'm hesitant to agree that all Nazis are evil because frankly I grew up in an area where many people were raised to believe horrible things. I've know a few people raised in a Nazi background who have since broken away from that. The potential to be better is always there, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't fight against them.

Agreed, people have free will and can always choose to stop being a hateful bigot. I know this and still support slaughtering Nazis. We cant wait around for them to make that choice; they're too dangerous.
