@zzz If that's a Split-leaf "philodendron", yes. Those are aerial roots it drops to help support it as it climbs. Mine has several of them.

@monorail I'm not a doctor, but my dad was, and I picked up a lot of medical knowledge by osmosis.

@monorail Apparently certain bacterial infections can smell oddly fruity or grape-y. Tuberculosis supposedly has a mouse-y smell. And various vaginal infections have different smells, some of them quite distinctive.
