@porsupah Yeah, the nicest thing about the LCM was that they made it as interactive as possible with the computers they had plenty of. It was nice to sit down at a clonky old keyboard and type "load *,8,1" once again. They also had access to the bigger machines for pros & researchers.
@porsupah Oh I know what you mean, I had so many of the old beasts. I was going to donate a few things to the Living Computer Museum here, but they closed at the beginning if COVID, and their creator/patron saint died and they never reopened. Shame, it was a great place to while away a day.
@deweyritten What's the problem with healing? I might be able to offer a little advice (of a strictly not-a-professional sort)
@matociquala What's worse is finding a hummingbird pathetically licking a frozen feeder trying to get some nourishment out of it. Always makes me feel like the worst person in the world.
@porsupah Thanks, unboosted & informed original poster.
Police and prosecutors use junk science to falsely accuse and convict 911 callers of crimes. The use of junk science and pseudo-science by police and prosecutors is widespread and has been used to send thousands of innocent people to prison. This is just one more example, and one of the most egregiously bad.

@porsupah I'd like being alone better if we didn't have a houseguest doing the brittle diabetic thing & refusing care.
@ct_bergstrom We live near the southern roost and feed our crows regularly.
We have an old arbor in the back yard and perch a dog dish up there full of puppy chow, peanuts, and other delicious treats, especially during breeding season. They're still skittish about us being in the yard when they are, but they will sit on the arbor & wait for us to come in the kitchen. They make deliberate eye contact before they fly off to a nearby tree. And we do get occasional gifts.
Hello All.
Due to a sliiiiight miscalculation on car repairs we dropped more on making sure we could drive than I thought. Thanks to this I'm going to run a discount on my dice shop (either http://crypticcrits.com or https://ko-fi.com/hexedcoffee, whatever your flavor is) to try to recover costs.
Use NEWYEAR23 on either site to get 20% off your order! I appreciate any boost a hell of a lot. I do ship worldwide.
I wish I could find a copy of one game I made, but I never released it, and that was before the net was really A Thing, so it didn't have a chance to drift away onto distant shores.
Not that it was any masterpiece, but a world better than the Missile Command clone that paid for my floppy drive & controller. Regrettably, that one does survive. =:)
And trying to search for "Arachnida".. not so easy. ^_^;
re: question about menstruation & pain
@headbanged I'm past that stage, but what helped me was ibuprofen in prescription-level doses. IANAD, and don't take this as medical advice, but prescription doses are typically 400-600 mg, sometimes more.
I still had trouble with dizziness, but that was because I was losing large amounts of blood. Finally had to get surgery to deal with it.
But a few days of high-level ibuprofen (and snacking on edamame) made a big difference in the pain levels for me.
re: food, veg
@porsupah And I'm all about finding recipes that I can eat right now - though it's gotten better, shrinkage has given me a lot more digestive room.
re: food, veg
@porsupah I'll have to try that recipe. We can get the garlic shoots frozen around here (and most anything else Asian)
Possibly left by aliens. Making the world stranger for over half a century.
