When it was clear that her first smartphone would be inevitable, we wanted to keep her out of #SurveillanceCapitalism and Walled Gardens for as long as possible.
The only problem: This very color-conscious person had made it clear she would have a hard time accepting an orange-colored device.
So what to do? Use edding markers? Graffiti spray paint?

In the end, we just walked into a local car paint service, picked a color from a huge catalog and 48 hours later had a shiny, metallic turqouise phone. For free.
Well, almost. They said they don’t want money but since they just opened up recently, they could use a good review – on Google Maps! 😬
