A Christmas Comics Carol in 3 Acts: Act 1

$RichCulturalOrganization: Hey, would you like to participate in this cool comics website?

We just need you to do X, Y and Z; and we need unlimited int'l rights for publishing everything online and stuff. What do you think? 😎

Me: Sounds cool, but, y'know, as full-time comics artist, and in these trying times, I have to ask: Is there a budget for me doing all this?

I think a fixed sum of $peanuts would be appropriate, what do you think? 🤔

re: A Christmas Comics Carol in 3 Acts: Act 2

$RichCulturalOrganization: Unfortunately, there’s no budget for this, but we feel like we might change that in the future. Maybe we can help with task X and Y. I’ll consult with the team and get back to you.

Me: [grumbles aside] the administrator gets paid on this, the guy building the website gets paid, the comics journalists writing the interview questions gets paid – but the actual _content provider_ is supposed to do his_her work for fun ☠️🌀⚡🤬

re: A Christmas Comics Carol in 3 Acts: Act 3

$RichCulturalOrganization: So we talked it over and as I said we didn’t have a budget, but we’re willing to learn, and so – we'd like to offer you $peanuts minus 50€, would that be okay for you?

Me: 🤯🎄🎁
