Haida isn't my favorite, but he *is* the only guy I've seen go from a "nice guy" bad attitude in the early episodes to the last episode, realizing that he isn't owed *anything* from Retsuko, that she isn't the 2D girl he knows from work, but a 3D woman with her own hopes, dreams, & obscure hobbies outside of work.

not a lot of cishet guys are willing to even ADMIT that they're wrong about something, especially when they're trying to woo women
