Rivers' voice doesn't really have the emotion to cover a bunch if 80s and earlier songs like they want to fite me

That's just not really his energy as a singer imo???????
The Protomen have a great album of 80s covers because like, that became their aesthetic
@evie naw you're safe, his entire vocal personality is counterpointed to most 80's songs. which isn't a bad thing, but they don't arrange around it, they just kinda play straight covers
@LANthus Yeah Weezer isn't really an "~80s" sounding band, they're a mid/late 90s band and like, that's just not a good mesh
@evie they're a rock opera band, that's never not been their aesthetic

Feels more indie punk opera compared to how grandiose act 2 can get at times
Also, while I'm here, Coheed and Cambria's cover of The Trooper is hot garbage
