misinfo (or is it)
The last piece of new software development was completed on or around April 19th, 1997.
That was the moment when the total amount of technical debt associated with production code in operation surpassed the capacity for the world's software developers to continue overcoming entropy.
Ever since, all software development efforts have actually been an elaborate form of juggling, involving at times million of jugglers simultaneously heaving balls of code back into the air on ever more erratic trajectories, secure in the knowledge that, while someone might miss that particular ball, it would not be them.
And that, children, is how I met your mother.

(this is what connects USians to technology; knowing that we 'nuke' our food but also 'nuked' the earth several times)
