I'm tempted to fill one of my info boxes on my masto profile with one of the genders from no man's sky (like "orthogonal" or something like that) but I don't want anybody to think i'm trying to make like a helicopter joke or something (it'd be an earnest expression of me being nonbinary and often not having good established words for gender)

@poss_bot ok i love "orthogonal" because the way i (and many people) would visualize gender is as a straight line, and i just feel so far off from that, like if something can be orthogonal in n dimensions related to that line, yes

more to the point sometimes concepts from other things (math, space, music) do a better job of explaining gender than anything else and i think other people around feel that too

@heytanuki I ended up using "vectorised" but orthogonal is still appealing for this reason and others, haha.

(it's also a cool as fuck word to say)
