in 2 hours i'm off to the doctor to help him fill out a referral form for Newcastle GIC...

wish me luck :-)

ok, so the referral basically needs me to write what amounts to a short essay about why i want to be referred... and given that the appointment overran by 100% anyway, trying to do it wouldn't have been all that reasonable in place. also, i suck at speaking off the cuff... and the one who doesn't can't necessarily be relied on to give an accurate account, rather than saying what they think the other person wants to hear :-(

@lambdagrrl

actually newcastle seems to be one of the more modern GICs in outlook; the problem is that my GP doesn't know me at all (today was the 2nd time i've seen him) & also this is his first GIC referral... so he's not entirely sure what he's doing

@lambdagrrl

and apparently, because of being dropped in between two GICs a couple of years ago, there's not that much in my notes he can fall back on, so i think he wants an authoritative account from me of what's actually happened in the past & what i want from the GIC in the future

@thamesynne so basically the problem is the GP? *sigh* standard

@lambdagrrl

in fairness, he would've done it all in the interview; it was me that raised the possibility of taking it away & writing something, instead of having to marshal answers to questions on the spot

@lambdagrrl

still, i'd much rather be able to self-refer; that, for me, is the real accessibility problem
