"In March 1998, a student in Georgia was suspended from school forwearing a Pepsi shirt on the school’s Coke Day: ‘School officials say the shirt was an insult to Coca-Cola executives visiting from Atlanta andruined a school picture in which students spelled out “Coke” ’ (Anon, 1998). Exclusive contracts with corporations such as Coca-Cola are often devised to ensure that the company only need pay out promised monies if schools maintain target sales, thereby providing institutions with financial incentives to promote the corporation’s products (Molnarand Morales, 2000)."
