@GreenandBlack going off of my dad's attitude, by viewing it like a spectator sport
srsly he's like fairly lefty in his principles but he doesn't actually care enough to do anything, it's the most frustrating thing
@lambdagrrl @GreenandBlack honestly you can reach a point where you care so much that you just burn out and flip around to a cynical "we're fucked, so why not just laugh" point
@CornishRepublicanArmy @GreenandBlack maybe. I dunno, I think that requires a certain amount of callousness that I don't have
@CornishRepublicanArmy @GreenandBlack yeah, I mean I can see how apathy can be a defence mechanism, but also I am too close to people directly affected by a lot of these issues to be particularly detached
like, we're talking about my dad here. he's straight, cis, able and has plenty of savings; I am none of those things. his is a detachment that is not currently accessible to me.
@CornishRepublicanArmy @GreenandBlack This is why one of the most important revolutionary tools (imho) is internal propaganda: things by-and-for radicals that provide hope that a better world is achievable.

@GreenandBlack
Oh for sure I feel you, I'm a poor gay trans woman, I'm not on top of a mountain of privilege either. Mostly, I think it just kinda sucks people burn out so much, and so easy, than become impassioned by it but it kinda is what it is : /
