@lastbubblerises welcome to fedi! If youre on one instance (which you are) you have access to all of them, so no worries there! (excluding moderation eg. blocked instances)
a good way to find people to follow is to peek into the federated timeline and see if you find anyone cool there, and then follow people who people you like follow!
