Today's sorting includes:

-- 5 unopened packages of wide-ruled, loose-leaf paper;
-- NanoJuice brand fancy portable charger;
-- a Very Suspicious Knife;
-- and 15 apartment keys.

The number of apartment keys is ... alarmingly large this year. Usually it's around 3 to 5. And the Suspicious Knife is Very Suspicious.

@tempest Truth, lol. But not unexpected. We have a high relatively short-term transplant population, and an oddly high number of serious deal-hunters.

70% off christmas candy at the grocery store today. My breakfast was chocolate.

@tempest Mine appears to be mostly recommendations. Where can I get this? What's the best that? How can I do [thing] away from the city? Does anyone know a [profession] in town? That sort of thing.

*Looks at latest writer-related scandal* Makes notes for 2023 behavioral standards: do not fake my own suicide and have family cover for me, while blaming other writers for causing my demise by being mean to me, then “come back from the dead” a year or two later after fundraisers, grieving, etc. and announce any version of: “Hey, how’s it going? I’m fine.” o_O jezebel.com/novelist-appears-t

lost and found cleanout time is upon us yet again.

I'm doing the easy stuff first, which today means

-- 39 water bottles off to Goodwill and;
-- two unopened, king-sized, Hershey chocolate bars off to the office snack table.

@quartzen Y'know, I think I put it away because it made me feel so strongly. I watched it when it came out, YEARS before I knew what a QPR was.

@quartzen Oh wow, I love Kurau Phantom Memory! It's so good! It's in my collection but I haven't done a rewatch in ages...

For those who keep saying they don't understand why we are so focused on masks: Mask mandates are the policy that would instantly make a huge difference to the lives of higher risk people. It would mean they could go on public transport, access medical care, & other basic needs.

Coworker warning re the chocolates at work: they're cordials.

Me: okay, I can handle chocolates that're a little watery

Reality: Naw, yo. This is a SHOT OF PURE ALCOHOL someone encased in chocolate. Are you ready to be DRUNK AT WORK?

At least I have something to look forward to at 5...

re: Birdsite Cross-Post

@ksonney Dorsai Irregulars were a fixture at some of my local cons back in the day. It's good to know they're still around. Good people!

"I'm sick of people bashing the obvious utility of NFTs. The ease with which I can look at a person's profile, see their involvement with NFTs, and then identify them as a blood sucking sociopath is revolutionary." - Bad Money

I've never been able to afford the definitive edition DVD sets, but I guess I'm going to have to start saving up, if they're even still available. This walled garden, back-catalog hoarding is BULLSHIT.

Dammit. Hulu put the Twilight Zone behind an impossible paywall so now I can't follow along with the SyFy marathon. This SUCKS.

Well, cleaning your oven with nothing but a paste made of baking soda and water actually does work as effectively as the internet says. Not having to deal with harsh chemicals was pretty nice, actually.

Well, nuts. It looks like the Korean restaurant isn't doing their New Year's platter this year. Bummer.

Holiday baking is winding down and I have definitely made too much.

I will add that masking/distancing/vaccination is all good, but what we REALLY need is forced PM2.5 air filtration in all public spaces. Schools, hospitals, universities, shops, restaurants, cinemas: on trains, buses, planes, and passenger ships. And ESPECIALLY schools and hospitals. These premises have always been viral disease amplifiers, but filtration stops it spreading at source.
