Its always morally correct to pirate @Adobe software, especially when they snatch data from your private artwork and feed it to their "Content Analysis" for (in their own words) Machine-Learning.
Good on Jon Lam for sounding the alarm. Remember: "Industry Standard" is a Marketing Term. What matters is if you can do the work well. Whatever tools work for you are what work best. Dont let corporations make you dependent on them.

Truly though … it does sometimes feel like the furry aesthetic is filtering into the mainstream and mundane world, which is amusing and fun!
But it remains our duty to keep the furry fandom weird and queer, and make sure the corporations and media companies are never able to take us over! Solidarity! ✊
OK fellow #Mastodon users I'm just putting out a little test to see how many of you see this toot. If you are reading this now then please ReBlog.
#HappyNewYear from all the team at #BlazingMinds
2022's been good to me. Made a real point of no longer putting off a lot of things, making up for time lost to the pandemic years, and building some really special friendships.
If 2022 was rough for you, I'm sorry and I hope 23 is better. Let's all have each other's backs, be kind, be supportive, cut each other some slack, but equally don't put up with toxicity in your life nor be the toxicity in someone else's. Let's make it good with gentle, unstoppable strength and love.
As Croatia is joining the Eurozone, Liberapay is, for the first time, dropping support for a currency.
- The Croatian Kuna (HRK) has now disappeared from donation forms.
- All existing donations and scheduled payments in that currency have been converted to the Euro.
- All accounts which had the Kuna as their main currency have been switched to the Euro.
Congratulations to Croatia, and happy new year to everyone! 🥳
Keep Furry Weird!!
Be whatever you want to be. Be silly, be affectionate, be kinky, be queer, be unique and special, be furry the way YOU want to be furry. Show the world that you're not afraid to be you.
Screw the haters. They'll hate you no matter what, so show them they don't matter!
I am SO PROUD of you. I'm proud of who you are, of your journey of self-discovery, of the fact that you have a "weird" side that you love.
Keep Furry Weird, and love our fandom for the people in it! 💙💙
Useful term I discovered this week: “toxic mimicry”. It’s the pattern of substituting systems/organisations/services that look superficially like they fill a core societal need but in fact act to take up the space that a genuine system would fill, and only provide virtual nutrition.
Examples:
- 6pm TV news mimics public discourse
- Malls mimic public spaces
- Daycare mimics collective child rearing
I like the term as it suggests something predatory and insidious.
Kdenlive fundraiser news: With only 3 days to go, we need one last push! We need just over 1,400 euros to reach our stretch goal of 20,000 euros.
All proceeds go to #funding development of new features and improving Kdenlive.
Hey cis friends, have you ever fantasized about being a different gender? Any context: sex or cool clothes or whatever, no shame attached.
Trans folks commonly think everyone questions their gender, but the few cis folks I've asked either say no, or only a tiny handful of times.
If none of these choices make sense for you, my DMs are open.
Trans friends, please sit this one out, but please do boost for reach.
I keep seeing boosts of a post about how the .ORG domain was bought by a private equity firm and they're going to dramatically raise the price, but that sale was rejected by ICANN in April 2020 and the Public Interest Registry, the folks who've run .ORG since 2003, still run it. I love you all, but that post you're boosting is over three years old. You can stop boosting it now. Please. :)

Introduction
So here we are on a new social network thingy. We've seen a lot of them since 2001 (still miss LiveJournal), but time marches on.
We'll mostly be using this account for announcements, which is pretty much the same way we used the account on that other place we won't mention here.
Thanks to the meow.social folks for a home here!
> The PSP's web browser is - charitably - pathetic. It is slow, frequently runs out of memory, and can only open 3 tabs at a time... But the GOV.UK pages are written in simple HTML. They are designed to be lightweight and will work even on rubbish browsers. They have to. This is for everyone...
> Are you developing public services? Or a system that people might access when they're in desperate need of help? Plain HTML works. A small bit of simple CSS will make look decent. JavaScript is probably unnecessary - but can be used to progressively enhance stuff. Add alt text to images so people paying per MB can understand what the images are for (and, you know, accessibility).
> Go sit in an uncomfortable chair, in an uncomfortable location, and stare at an uncomfortably small screen with an uncomfortably outdated web browser. How easy is it to use the websites you've created?

#ICYMI the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention has announced that the so-called "gender critical"/TERF movement is fascist and genocidal.
"The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention voices its concern over the growing number of laws introduced in the United States that target transgender individuals and the transgender community. Anti-trans hostility in the US has become a staple of the Republican Party’s election strategy and is clearly being used to stoke voters’ fears of a changing world by raising the specter of a malevolent polluting force tied to liberalism, cosmopolitanism, and democracy. The Lemkin Institute believes that the so-called 'gender critical movement' that is behind these laws is a fascist movement furthering a specifically genocidal ideology that seeks the complete eradication of trans identity from the world."
Writers are taught not to write wish-fulfillment—it's too easy, boring, or low stakes. But that reasoning is wrong. It only seems that way because we've all already read thousands of wish-fulfillment stories about cis het able-bodied white males, so they're very... predictable.
For every other demographic?
Readers actively, desperately crave wish-fulfillment stories about themselves, because they rarely if ever see them.
Apparently there are people out there who think it's inappropriate to use Mastodon to talk about books you've written or promote projects you've worked on because it's marketing and self-promotion?
I am not one of those people. I implore you to write about the work you have done and the things you have made - I want to hear about that stuff!
