Spent hours playing the English version of Monster Card Tactics only for the game to delete my save. And it's not battery issues either, I transferred it from my Pocket to my GBA because I wanted to play it in color and a screen that said something like "1M Memory" or something came up and then my save was gone. I tested with a new save to see if it was holding and it was.

So I guess putting it in the Gameboy wrong destroyed it. Cool. I think I'll leave playing that game for... maybe never cuz it's really slow and tedious grinding all the cards (like a Yu-Gi-Oh! game but those don't randomly delete :l).

Just a reminder that unofficial hardware can be really really jank at times. I hope there will be a way to play it on emulator or flash cart one day, then I'll give it a go again.

I lied I already started grinding again. It would be nice to make sure it's emulatable though since I can't get it to open. It's probably being block off by the battery cage getting in the way due to poor PCB design. I'm too afraid to try and force the front of the cart off in-case I destroy it.

@tabor62gb if you have some kind of prying tool you might be able to get it open by sticking it in the join near where the tabs are and levering it open. basically unclipping it like a Famicom cart instead of sliding it down. It is tricky though

@lion Oh I see, I have a plastic Spudger so I might try that sometime, thanks!
