I went to the local zoo's "Glo Wild" event yesterday. It's a collaboration with https://tianyuculture.us/ to put a bunch of pretty light displays throughout the zoo, which does mean I paid admission to get into a zoo and look at fake animals.
Very pretty, and the crowds were much more manageable than last year. Not entirely sure if it was less busy because they planned it better, because of the time of year, because the forecast was not 100% ideal, or whatever else, but last year the Africa section was absolutely clogged and this time it was fine.
Surprisingly, they are still operating the train at night and have simple lights next to the track.
so this is now kind of a game? i decided to make it non-violent so you're shooting them with a love beam or something

it is on 1688 for ~Β£57 now & there is a part of me thinking i could buy one but the lack of L2/R2 and 2nd stick limits its appeal as an emu device too much for me, most games that don't need those are playable on handhelds I already have. probably not worth it just for the knob jokes.....

A thing that the #gameDad encouraged: lots of young people* very new to emulation who are now freaking out because the currently good ROM site is going down at the end of the month
the site in question came online in October 2022
ROM sites going offline is normal but this time there's an Unusual Amount of youngsters who don't know that it's normal because this is their First Time Ever and it's traumatic for them and, IDK, I kinda want to give them a hug and tell them it's all gonna be okay

I haven't gone through the full thing yet but will say if you're thinking about filling it out - be serious/thoughtful about it, consider the harms these restrictions would do to kids esp marginalised & abused ones, don't only talk about adult privacy/freedom as that's easier for them to dismiss

Although a complete ban is the worst case scenario, any age-based measure would require everyone to age verify, and so present many of the same problems, many platforms would probably choose to block anyway. I suspect the wording is aimed at negotiating people down to more "agreeable" restrictions that would have the same effect in the end
