Most of the cis white men commenting Apple's announcements regarding increased parental controls and restrictions on their children's devices are failing to see how dangerous these can be for queer and marginalized kids.

Fuck no. Ask any trans kid whether their parents can make the right decisions for them. It's one thing to want to protect kids (who doesnt?), it's another to provide absolute power to the parents over them like they're their property.
Kids' rights are human rights should not be an empty statement. It should mean fight back against age verification, fight back against their systematic surveillance, fight back against removing kids' rights to digital privacy. And fight back against this insane idea that parents should inherit an almost divine right to police everything about their children's lives.

Fuck offfffffff kids are human people. They need to be allowed to have privacy. Parents shouldn’t be spying on kids.
Everyone deserves privacy and this shit has two outcomes: either it conditions kids to accept surveillance and fascism or it trains them not to trust other adults and not come forward when bad shit happens to them

The Ocarina remake IDK The original is one of my favourite games but does a remake really appeal to me? probably not unless they do something really interesting with it? if it's just the same thing with more Graphics and Content I'm not really bothered
Well the 2 things I'm most interested in from that direct are Rhythm Paradise and Muramasa and both of them are coming out on Switch 1 so Not Buying the Thing is still working out for me

a thing i have found younger researchers of the late 90s internet don't really appreciate is the number of ephemeral websites made by literal children. i was 12/13/14 making websites on freehosts for fun and i knew easily a dozen other people my age doing the same. the person who hosted the forum i was part of in high school started it at 15 on a server under his bed. there was no concept of age verification. if you had an internet connection and lax parental supervision you were good to go.

i really do dislike the society-wide assumption that the best way to keep children safe is to grant parents more and more power over their lives, which is one that totally disregards the utter commonality of abusive treatment of children by parents, guardians, and other authority figures

There are 2 launchers preinstalled, IUX and Pegasus, IUX is the custom one for this device & I like it in some ways it but does have issues. Honestly if I was doing this from scratch I wouldn't bother with a launcher & just use emu apps standalone but might as well tinker with what's here
hell it was hard to find last year as well. I had to get it from Taobao & accordingly everything was in Chinese. Most apps were switchable but all the games on the bundled SD card are named in Chinese & have Chinese metadata for the included launchers so I'm figuring out what to do about that
for context this is a ZPG A1 Unicorn. very nice Android based handheld with a 1:1 screen and a Sega-style d-pad. Unfortunately it didn't make much impact as they had production & distribution issues & ended up being beaten to market by Anbernic's spite-driven knockoff the RG Cube. Hard to find now
I bought this a full year ago and have only just got around to setting it up
