realising that we don't actually have a definitive way to determine whether we're awake or not,, like, ever, since our dreams are, for the most part, utterly indistinguishable from waking reality. it also appears that we can get locked into waking dream states for several hours, we almost wrote years, fuck that, that would be horrible. but like, we looked at our sleep thing on our phone, and it said we slept for hours after our alarm, and we have had nested wakeups in dreams before and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

like, legit, we have no way to definitively tell whether we're awake right now, since all possible tests for that would return the same result whether awake or dreaming, since our dreams operate on the same logic and reality as our being awake, which, in some ways, makes hte argument pointless; if dreams and reality are the same, are they really two different things?

@freya I think of it as "reality" being one specific dream with its own continuity, while the others are equally real. Which leads me to caring a lot more about my behavior in dreams.
