@julia Egg: "Am I trans?"
Elder: "If you were presented with a button that would instantly make you a <gender>, would you press it?"
"Well, yeah, of course!"
: "Congrats, you're trans!"
"So...where's the button?"
"There isn't one. Welcome to second puberty. It lasts 2 eternities. Here's your blåhaj
We'll be here if you need us. Good luck!
So transness exists in many animals and not just humans. It's been observed but I'm going to give you a personal story from my personal life. My exwife was a wildlife rehabilitator. She went to school for it with a specialization in Raptors. That's birds of prey. Not Jurrassic Park.
They rehabilitate most birds but some just can't be released. If they can get along with people they become educational ambassadors. IE birds they take out to the public to educate on wildlife conservation and eliminate misconceptions etc etc.
Well they have a mated for life Golden Eagle duo. The boy is a little big but not so large that he's in lady eagle territory. In Raptors sexual dimorphism is reversed. It's important for later.
He has a wife. Golden Eagles mate for life. They do all the parnter things. Guard eggs. Have s3x. Normal stuff. but zero viable young. No young at all. They think maybe it's just a biproduct of the lady having West Nile virus. Organs move around and change in birds with west nile. It wouldn't be strange if she were infertile.
Because these birds are generally traumatized, and sexing of birds is prone to error they just don't do it. He acts like a guy. He is a guy. His lady love loves him very much. Well he dies of old age. It happens. It's sad.
So they do an autopsy. Also routine. Also for science. What is it they find in autopsy? Ovaries. No testes. No intersex condition. This eagle is a big masculine boy with ovaries. They had a married heterosexual couple with a trans guy and a cis gal ... if birds could be referred to by such terms.
Being trans isn't new. It's not a fad or a woke mind virus. It's not the Democrats or the Greens or the Hippies. It is observed in most animals capable of actually making advanced neural pathways. Some of the smartest creatures on earth are actually birds of prey. So guess where much transness is found? That's right Eagles, Hawks and owls. It's not weird. It's not unnatural. It's part of the normal distribution of thinking species. #Trans #lgbt #raptors #science #wildlife
fake threat re: noncon, tf, doll //
@lioness I think maybe we think of the body as a doll, because we're often in a state where no one is particularly fronting, and we can just be leaving it mostly to its own devices while we move the parts we need to? So for someone else (trusted) to treat our body that way feels natural?
But I also, separately, like the idea of being molded into things, and it doesn't much matter what if it's within my limits. -Cedar
@b0rk Need option for "I understand but disagree with the premise that they're reversed"
fake threat re: noncon, tf, doll //
@lioness This is making us question who in-system resonates with being a doll. We haven't thought about it since we started thinking of our kinky interests as headmate-specific. -Cedar
@b0rk In this thread I keep seeing "they're flipped in rebase", but I think it's actually the rebase command that's backwards. You give merge the revision with the changes you want to bring in, but you give rebase the revision you want to add your changes to.
@b0rk I think in my intuition HEAD/top is "the thing I'm adding changes to" and bottom is "the changes I'm adding" - the branch I merged in, or the commit I cherry-picked (including in a rebase) or reverted.
@b0rk I think I know intuitively what "top" and "bottom" mean (at least in the diff3 format), even though if someone asked me, answering would require more thought. In the process of comparing to the middle revision, I'll think things like "oh, upstream did this" without really thinking about which one is upstream.
@recursive Never had a name for that before. That template fucked us up so much. Ultimately it was kinky people that showed us a better way.
re: kink, hypnosis, training, practicality //
@lioness I think putting in the time to practice isn't enough. Practice for us was like: gradual improvement, plateau, finding the thing that leads to a breakthrough, repeat. You need to have a strategy that helps you find the breakthroughs, or you're likely to get stuck at a plateau.
Folks with ADHD, how did you feel when the acronyms shifted, and instead of having #ADD and #ADHD, now the "correct" term is ADHD?
When I was diagnosed in 2000, it was largely because they'd finally discovered that ADD without hyperactivity was a thing, and that girls/women presented as inattentive more often than hyperactive (thus why they were often overlooked). It still feels inaccurate every time I write "ADHD" in reference to myself (yet often get corrected if I use "ADD").
Devs left with tough choices as Warner Bros. ends all Adult Swim Games downloads
Some can relist games on Steam or consoles—but without reviews or fan content.
@b0rk Interesting, the meaning of HEAD is intuitive to me for rebases, because I think of a rebase as checking out the base revision and applying a series of cherry-picks to it.

Check temperature of environment (sometimes we're too hot or too cold and don't realize it).
Make sure we've taken our meds.
We have a grounding trigger we can use if we're looping on something.
Switch to someone else in-system who might have more energy.
Cuddle someone in-system.
More of a passive thing but finding the "App Timer" feature on our phone has helped recently.
