Any moment now, as Christmas and (American) Thanksgiving get closer, people will start posting suggestions of things to donate to food banks and 'Reverse Advent Calendars'.
I can't stress this enough:
Just. Give. Money.
Food banks can usually get more bang for their buck than you can.
They'll probably be able to give you a tax receipt for money, but not for cans.
And it lets them buy, store, and distribute food in the volumes they need and can handle.

After whatever moderation “mistake” made by mastodon.social that caused Tracy Chou’s post about reading white authors to be deleted, mastodon.online (also administrated by Eugen) has also suspended a Black user for unspecified reasons (likely similar).
This is why other communities are talking about defederation. It’s not one or two users being assholes. It’s moderation decisions that silence BIPOC (particularly WOC).

It turns out that Watchful is very good at sensing how we're feeling, so getting them back in front has helped us be more responsive to basic needs like hyrdation, but also to mood/whim. Instead of holding strictly to a routine/system, we're putting much more weight on what we feel like doing at the moment. We think the change has made us happier and better at our job.

I'm still not a Buddhist, but I've made a personal commitment to follow the five precepts, as I currently understand them. Dabbling in study of Buddhism, things that seemed challenging, wrong, or nonsensical at first become more reasonable, correct, or plausible, as my understanding increases.
It's kinda scary because I find myself wanting to accept teachings on faith that they'll make sense someday, which is something I really dislike about organized religion.

But, I couldn't do any damage because upon reloading all but one of my party members were chibi-fied? I guess whatever bypassed the counter also bypassed this status effect, but on reloading a save it's based on the event counter. Apparently the remaining party member is supposed to be able to win somehow, but I either bypassed a check for some needed item, or some other important thing that's supposed to happen.

The technical explanation, which I remember from the dream: the final boss has multiple phases, and the game allows you to straight-up leave and save in the middle of the fight. The phases are tracked with a general event counter. Somehow I got past phase 1 in an unintended way that didn't increment the counter. So the counter was still inside the boss fight, thus the boss was still there when reloading.
