still annoyed about Mulan (2020)

@quirk I have to agree with the author of the video that the biggest problem with the movie isn't that it misrepresents asian culture (although that's certainly an issue) but that it simply fails to be a good movie: there's no jokes, no charm, no emotion, no character development. they threw that all out in pursuit of "realism" while completely missing the point of the story and undermining its message.

what utter trash. do better, Disney.

obviously she's intended to be mulan's counterpart but uh

they introduce a badass evil witch character who is subservient to the big bad for no clear reason

yeah you could. why don't you?

there's like, no *fun* in this movie. it's too serious and heavy-handed by hand

what's the point of watching this if I can't sing along to I'll Make a Man Out of You?
