@ghostcommie okay my memory is not great, but as I remember it, the cybre.space admin later apologised for this and said he had fallen for the lies spread by the abusers that (apparently successfully) tried to frame Ginny as the real baddy, or something. (And undid the silence.)
It's up to you who you can trust obviously, and this is all buried under months of toots. To me this looked like an honest mistake and cybre.space still like a good instance.
For a moment, when I was scrolling down Goodreads and there was dust on my screen that made it look like the cover of a book was moving, and after I remembered that in meatspace, books never have moving covers, I was really confused why that's the case

@squirrel ugh :s in non-medical contexts it's about half/half here, afaik. probably because this country doesn't have dedicated laws about trans people, so government documents on trans stuff are not that official and a bit more flexible terminology-wise.

okay but… "I tried to define the difference between “transgender” and “transsexual”" is not the same as "I call myself a transsexual (because that's what we called ourselves back when I got into queer stuff)"
It's super important that people are able to use the words that are right for them, even if they are considered outdated and offensive by many now.
But. You can do that without reproducing this toxic "difference", surely?

Just a heads-up from having lived through many many waves of new users: Nazis etc. will probably try to join the platform over the next couple of days when they see how much fun we're having. Don't let them drive you away. In about a week or so their instances will all get blocked and they'll be banned from any reputable servers and things will go back to normal, it just takes admins a few days to sort things out and figure out what's what.

@numimyon @Halcyon@mastodon.social actually for me the header image doesn't change much, it's more about the new symbols that look stretched and messy to me, and too thin in comparison to everything else, and how suddenly everything is extremely rounded. i'll probably get used to it i guess after a while but right now it is kind of stressful to use 😅
