i remembered that dream(?) because just now it took me an embarassingly long time to decipher what "POA" means in a Harry Potter context.
I think I had a dream about not remembering what initialisms stand for o.O
in the dream there was a tweet about "CTF" and I was like… "what is that? is that some medical thing? no like… a philosophy thing? no wait that person I know does that! it is some geek thing! it is… ooooh!"
also this might not have been a dream but just tired!me reading actual twitter/mastodon, oops.
(also i didn't know up to now that this also refers to a sports thing, thanks wikipedia)

Fuck Amazon
I only wanted to write some programs for a home assistant to automate some of my care needs but everything has to use AWS, which demands a credit card up front with no mention of what it will charge you, when or what for and I'm too poor for that
So I'm left with my hopes dashed and a frankly useless Echo Dot because Amazon did a really bad job with this one folks, let me tell ya.
Can someone who is smart at this please tell me if I can jailbreak it or something?
@shekkiesqueaks thank you! I've already looked at man hier briefly, but reading information like this is kind of hard for me, so I jump onto everything that is more than a list m)
Oooh I didn't know that I needed a "which files are where"/"which of these weird folders contains what kind of stuff" flowchart in my life but I definitely do https://askubuntu.com/a/551931

Oh ok but Librarything has an app that I didn't know of yet. I'm going to try this… it can't be worse than the Goodreads app, lol. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.librarything.librarything
I think not long ago I said that using Goodreads and Librarything worked ok for me…
Actually, I'm back to hating both. Why are they so terrible. Librarything is one huge compromise and really only ok as "I don't want to be ONLY on Goodreads", and I don't think Goodreads is even trying to be good at anything beyond the very necessities of book reviewing.
(Tell me of any alternatives that you might know, please.)
@ghost @b_cavello ooh, cool! i didn't know that one!

@ThatVeryQuinn oh and you might find something on https://www.coursera.org/, if that's something that works for you. it's at least… interactive-ish and usually video based.
