Oooh, es gibt eine neue Heiterscheitern-Folge! http://www.scheitern.org/?p=640
Noch nicht gehört, aber yay *vorfreu*
Grey-headed Flying Fox (Pteropus poliocephalus)
Also known colloquially as a Fruit #Bat because they like eating fruit (as well as nectar and some insects).
This one was part of a colony in Parramatta Park, Sydney.
Many people don't like these bats as they are noisy, poo everywhere and can transmit Hendra and Lyssa viruses. I however think they're cute. They also perform important pollination tasks.

We are Live with our first iteration of https://joinmastodon.org/ which is going to serve as the Mastodon landing page for new users.
It is still a Work In Progress, but we are now sufficiently far along to be able to share it with you.
We want to make it easier for new users to join up.

If you're looking for some written porn: Until today-ish, Xan West's "Show Yourself to Me – Queer kink erotica" is 1 $ off and 100% of the money go to the author, to help them avoid homelessness. https://go-deeper-press.myshopify.com/products/show-yourself-to-me-by-xan-west
…I haven't fully read it because not my thing, but it's supposed to be really good.
But you know what's even cuter than a damselfly ? A tiny tiny frog on a bed of moss.
This tiny Eastern Sedgefrog (Litoria fallax) grows to only 3cm long. (this one is obviously smaller than that).
For the technically minded, this shot was lit very quickly with three speedlights. I got one crack at it before it decided to hop off somewhere less bright.
Another of our nocturnal hunters (and spider population controllers), is the Robust Velvet Gecko (Oedura robusta).
They grow up to 25cm long, this one was 15cm. Skin tone varies, often dark coloured with pale pattern, although the couple I've seen on my veranda have been this pale semi-transulcent pink. I suspect they may change based on surroundings (like a chameleon).
Hm... say I wanted to remove all mp3 files from a certain directory, I'd use "rm -f *.mp3"... what would I do if I wanted to remove everything /but/ mp3 files?
Sure, I /could/ move the mp3 files to somewhere else and delete the original folder I guess, but meh.
@OsirisSaline My biggest annoyance is that emoji have risen to common use without any of the interfaces that facilitate their use doing anything to facilitate the _reading_ of them.
Seriously, why can't I long-press or cursor-hover to get a popup with a large, clearly visible version of the image and at least the corresponding Unicode name(s)? How is it that _nobody_ is implementing this or similar?
It's a usability clusterfuck.
me: one thing i really love about #linux and #FLOSS in general is that it really helps you learn about your machine, you know? you get to learn all sorts of things about how machines run!
me five minutes later: my god if this random hack from Google to get my webcam to work fails then i'm gonna punch my computer so hard i'll be able to wear it as a bracelet
(warning for one fast flashing and another probably not dangerous but annoying flashing gif in the comments)
Okay, not following people was the thing that I liked most about Imzy. Now following people is a thing there. https://www.imzy.com/imzy/post/you_can_now_follow_your_friends_on_imzy_j2rqo2hc
Today is very much not my day. *dramatic mews*
the blood apocalypse / menstruation
And THEN, The Blood Apocalypse was about 3 days early. /o\
I was kind of planning to swim in the lake but I don't actually trust menstrual cups THAT much.
