can we please petition @Sony@twitter.com to release the source for the long-since commercially-dead ATRAC3 encoder so we can finally make #opensource #netmd #minidisc authoring tools that are newer than SonicStage 4.3 released in 2007?
turns out i didn't keep up with development in this regard, since i last touched the subject 4 years ago there's now a CLI tool for decoding and encoding ATRAC3 that doesn't require WINE, but it still seems to be in its infancy judging by the readme: https://github.com/dcherednik/atracdenc
before someone links me to the linux-minidisc repository on github, i've previously done work on it to write ATRAC3 NetMDs under linux, and the solution we have right now is to use sony's ACM binary released in 2000 in WINE to convert files: https://github.com/Lana-chan/linux-minidisc/blob/master/README
