chat programs have been in decline ever since we moved away from the version of skype that detected whether you were typing or just mashing your keyboard and if you were mashing it would show an icon of a cat instead of the regular typing icon

discord might've started a little better than skype was when it launched but despite using it every day (nobody i know is left on skype anymore) it's absolutely worse than my experience with skype in the 2010s and i miss it.
discord for android is a complete trashfire and no matter which device i use the call WILL simply drop randomly without warning or reason, so i can no longer sleep in a call with my girlfriends and wake up to their voice, which is a big negative
