When you learn your friend or family member is trans, don't think "X is now Y."
Think "Y is Y." Forget X.
Don't mourn X.
X isn't dead. X doesn't exist. X is a lie. Y is the truth.
If you slip up and say X too much, you're still thinking "X is now Y."
Cut it out. Y is Y.
