obscure take time: i still feel a slight guilt, as a brazilian, that Senna's death completely overshadowed Roland Ratzenberger's death, the very day prior, on the very same track

to Senna's credit: he was very moved about it and did everything in his power to make things right, before his qualifying lap the next day. he was rowdy in the actual races but he seemingly had a good heart.

Follow

quote:

"When track officials examined the wreckage of Senna's racing car, they found a furled Austrian flag. Senna had planned to raise it after the race, in honour of Ratzenberger."

the thing that completely guts me:

"FIA president Max Mosley was also in attendance, noting in an interview ten years later:

'Roland had been forgotten. So, I went to his funeral because everyone went to Senna's. I thought it was important that somebody went to his.'"
