I just want to be clear right? I don't actually have a problem with fediblock. Nor do I think it's a bad idea for marginalized people to share information about abusers with each other, because sooner or later the fascists out here come for us all. I'm not adopting a position cluster here.
What I have is a whole day wasted chasing down very serious accusations only to find they were in EXTREMELY bad faith; creating a situation I've experienced more than once on Twitter and Reddit. A bad scene.
Does it suck that this is real? Yeah, it's super awkward. But also having been here a few times, I know that there are in fact people out there who will say ANYTHING to win.
I went through the screenshots of "vile racism" and "literally fascism." They were not those things, and I know because I study those things more or less for "a living."
@AnarchoNinaWrites as much as i mostly just shut up about it since there's almost nothing you can do at the center of this type of thing that won't make it worse, i really appreciate you being explicit like this for basically no personal benefit
de-feds aside, watching people i had highly respected and considered to be friends either post extremely personal shit about me or boost the same shit about me onto my own feed for that entire day, because of a hashtag(???), felt a lot like being gaslit
@killeveryhetero @AnarchoNinaWrites not to be all "first time?" about this but yeah are0h and elekk and their cohorts did this exact same thing to me with computer fairies in september of 2020 which forced me to step down from the instance i created in april 2017 to stop the bleeding so my users wouldn't be affected as much by mass defederation
