@mavica_again flash was neat. sorry to break it to you though but “actionscript” was javascript. literally only called actionscript because sun owned the trademark for “java”

@mavica_again adobe even donated the actionscript vm to mozilla and they integrated it into firefox to speed up the javascript

@zens i'm more content in angering people who to this day tell me "why do you like flash? everything you can do in it you can do in html5!!!!" completely ignoring the authoring tools and the cultural zeitgeist that was burned down

@mavica_again there were deep technological flaws in flash that made it a security mess.

but yes agree to all that

@zens all introduced needlessly by adobe after they sucked the life off macromedia, just another reason to hate adobe not flash 😌

@zens yeah but actionscript never mined bitcoin without my knowledge on a webpage !!!!!!!!!

@mavica_again are you sure about that? a guy at my work got in trouble for doing exactly that with flash

@zens i thought flash was dragged behind the barn before bitcoin't became a thing but kudos on his feat !!!

@mavica_again flash limped along until about 2015 when chrome pulled npapi support

@zens i'm not great at remembering when things were introduced/deintroduced. that tells me nothing about the overlap of flash and bitcoin

especially since i'm pretty sure i strongarmed flash into staying on my system past 2015 with browser configs

@mavica_again i remember bitcoin shit started getting hype around 2011 or 2012

@zens gods! you'd think after 10 years people would've vaccinated themselves against that sorta virus

@mavica_again it’s the forever bug. if humanity were capable of patching it, gambling wouldn’t be a thing
