i've tried long to make a modern linux that plays nice with old-looking windowing managers and never succeeded
@mavica_again my impression is that modern linux right now is a shitshow of the intersection between wayland not being fully cooked and x devs completely giving up on all life and hope. wanting anything up to and including working at all seems a bit much right now
@mavica_again it’s always been bad but in the past few years it appears to have fallen off a cliff.
apparently 2007 was the year of the linux desktop. I am vaguely looking into how to run versions from that year
