Fantasizing about how DLC on consoles could have worked in the 90s, lmao...

Realistically, for PS1, I don't think it works unless maybe you could do some kind of trick with disc swapping but it's fun to imagine they make some kind of memory card or peripheral you can plug into slot 2 for DLC

N64 wouldn't really work either without the 64DD (but WITH the 64DD could have been a powerhouse) and... Surprisingly the Sega Saturn might have come out on top in that situation???

It's just fun to imagine being able to take your DLC pak to the Sony kiosk wherever you buy your games and download new cars for Gran Turismo 2 lol

Or like a PS1 port of Daggerfall where you can download DLC for new quests & areas

@mavica_again Yeah!!! This, just expanded to the 32/64 bit era. It was such a cool concept and I'm sad it didn't keep up over the long term and never really left Japan... ;u;

@blubfeesh also insofar as more DLC-like, satellaview actually downloaded the games through the cable transmission into a flash cartridge

and i think one of the first home consoles to call it DLC was the dreamcast, though what you were downloading was just a file into your VMU to unlock content that was already hidden in the game disc
