Protip for anyone doing an iPod Classic flash mod... Apparently the 120gb 7th gens, despite everything, can NOT be modded over 128gb of storage as they use the same memory controller as the 6th gens. Only the 160gb 7th gens, and make DAMN sure it's a 7th because the 160gb 6th gens have that same 128gb storage limit when you flash mod. You can't even surpass the limit with Rockbox, it is HARDWARE locked.

I had a perfectly good 5th gen and I spent $60 for a prettier UI and better battery life lmao...

Apparently the ones to get are the 60gb and 80gb 5th gen (Slightly more dated UI, people say they sound better than the 7th?, the 30gb ones like I had apparently don't love having big storage because of their limited RAM, slightly worse battery life) or the 160gb and ONLY the 160gb 7th gen

None of this would be an issue if I was just using it for music (I doubt I'll ever own 20,000 songs lol) but I was building it to be "emergency power outage entertainment" and was gonna' put a bunch of shows and movies on it too

@blubfeesh i'm struggling so hard to fill up a still-mechanical 40gb b/w 4th gen

@mavica_again 128gb is MASSIVE for music but starts to feel cramped once you start adding video content. I know Futurama on an iPod screen isn't ideal but the concept was that it was supposed to be entertainment with a wide selection and long battery life in case of power outages. :P
