Speaking of Raspberry Pi, I will say this little HDMI USB video capture widget is pretty handy.
Not awesome frame rate or quality for game streaming, but good enough to hook up a Pi and use a PC camera app on a laptop as a quick & dirty monitor. Only about $15 on amazon

@lmorchard frame rate can probably be improved by fiddling with the video format in your capture software

@lmorchard i use one of these for VGA capture (with a $5 VGA to HDMI box) and it works wonders for me. i've done many live streams playing DOS games on actual hardware
