man i wish i found USD$399 "affordable", can you imagine the privilege

@mavica_again
I found more stability on disability benefits (in the UK, not the US) than getting paid my highest (almost! Just under national average £24k at the time).

The trade off was the immense stress for chronic maltreatment at work.
And… as “stable” as this is, it stops the second the DWP decide “nah, you breathed too hard that time. Redo the form.” (They reject 49% of initial applications, which sure seems odd, considering increasing rates of disability!)

But yeah. I wish I had this lower, just-enough-to-start-to-relax-but-y’know-not-really level coming in my whole 20s, which would have helped (although couldn’t have built much savings I don’t think

@MxVerda our partner (CFS+FND) is also under the DWP's scrutiny, so we get it

@mavica_again Absolutely crazy amount of privilege for sure. Especially in PC enthusiast or audiophile areas, you see people talking about values like that like it's no big deal, and it just makes me struggle to imagine how that can make sense to someone. Like, is it really that easy to forget about like, the rest of the world?

(btw, sorry for the accidental fav on this toot, my phone screen is broken so I'm getting offsetted/phantom taps)
