why did we start calling avatars "puhf-ps"
@mavica_again I think that's what they were called in AIM? At least I have it in my memory from back then.

@terinjokes i remember places calling avatars "profile picture" sure but i don't think i've come across anyone shortening it to "pfp" until the 2020s
@mavica_again Ah yeah, I don't recall seeing the abbreviation back in the AIM days.
Urban Dictionary is a terrible source, but the earliest reference I see on there is 2015.
