so the ibook g3 i bought on ebay is mostly word documents

judging by the file names (i have chosen not to open any of them) it was owned by either a librarian, or a book editor, or a review writer. there are things like book of the year reviews from 2003 to 2006, interview transcripts, letters and personal documents. the person i bought it from was clearly aware of the documents in it as "opening a word document" is all the testing they did before selling

i'm torn between the data protection burn the whole thing down and format the drive or data archival preserve the files that are sufficiently anonymous

i have confirmed this laptop belonged to a late British journalist who passed in 2005 and later used by his author widow who collaborated with him on multiple books

it's weird having the laptop of a person who has a Wikipedia page
