@mavica_again i completely agree. i've picked up some cheap peripherals off ebay from the 1990s-early 2000s. minus the plastics in some cracking and/or breaking slightly, the overall quality is much better than the shit we have nowadays.
case in point: usb webcams. the camera quality itself is awful, but the old ones don't feel flimsy.

you might be forgiven for mistaking all this 90s multimedia stuff for cheap garbage that doesn't work since that's all we have today with internet-of-shit ai everything cheap garbage that never works but trust me when i say the past i remember was cheap garbage that most absolutely did work for very limited specific purposes and boy howdy we thrived on it
