can you still play in #globaltalk if all you have is an ibook g3 and you're not online 24/7 hosting anything or do only people with servers get to play
@mavica_again Anyone is more than welcome to just fire up an emulator and browse the shares that are on there and play around!
The 24/7 stuff is just more for people who want to share files and printers with others, it's not a requirement just stuff people want to do, there's no gatekeeping, plenty of people shut down their old machines when they're not using them because some of these retro machines are quite fragile...
@mavica_again I think GlobalTalk just attracts a lot of "want to cosplay as a 90s IT tech" kind of folk (I sure know that's what I am)
@mavica_again Karl is right. It's open to anyone, on any supported hardware, with any level of availability.
@mavica_again yeah, you do need a router running but if you’re not hosting a file or printer share it only has to be on whenever you’re browsing other people’s zones.
i tried looking at the page about how to join #globaltalk and it seemed very focused only on people with 24/7 online desktops and not very open otherwise
