i'm sure i'm not the only victim of this, and i try to combat it from the other way as well
but it's so funny to me how people are much, much quicker to dish out negative comments, even abuse, than to praise something you made they've enjoyed
i rarely ever get positive feedback for my websites and tools. every single of the few people who's personally come forward to thank me about something i've made is shocked to learn how rare their messages are and admit they almost didn't send it
@mavica_again no fr half the reason i don't share my art and the like is because of this effect
i noticed it a lot in the late 2000s/early 2010s as well so it's been a predominant attitude for awhile
@mothtonoth i don't expect every single person to be my friend or even like me, but like
when is it my turn to be happy
@mavica_again honestly its very difficult to find real community on the internet without all these unspoken rules that you have to follow/bending to popular opinion. i think you are doing a wonderful job especially because digital autonomy is so important these days.
if you don't mind me saying: keep doing you and keep finding small joys, they'll start piling up after awhile.
