dev.glitch.social : What if Mastodon was good?

Follow

@Wulf That is a rather provocative statement. What bears it out?

@mona mostly @kibi
it is a fork much more open to features and changes with a user focus.
images are hidden in content warnings instead of original mastodon's content warning full view of unmarked images that frustrate users. long posts can be collapsed to hide them away. 500 character bios with an extra space for things like pronouns and websites (view my static profile)
and local only toots in very early beta.

@Wulf @kibi@dev.glitch.social Honestly that _does_ sound like an improvement. (I had someone tell me why long bios with meta-information was supposedly not a practical idea for Mastodon but I never quite understood the reasoning.)

@mona @kibi It's because Gargron's never had to change his profile and Gargron doesn't let main Mastodon change unless he'll use the feature or he's at risk of losing users.
Getting him to separate local and federated time was a drama filled ordeal despite the fact other OStatus software already did.
Without Gargron saying things like "CW-NSFW is fine as is" we can actually get things done to improve for our users.
Glitch has had 500 for bios without breaking for a month.
