oh fuck yeah this is way better (from https://twitter.com/saychieeef/status/875220029477863425) https://mastodon.social/media/UHtWMI9mTTGAg1uNCEY
Blocking & restricting Nazis is not "censoring a viewpoint you don't agree with".
Nazis advocate for the death and/or forced relocation (which often results in death) of peoples they deem inferior. That is not a viewpoint to disagree with, it is an incitement to violence and must be fought wherever it is found.
Since there are apparently a lot of new Mastodon users today, it's a good time to mention I've put together a list of resources for Mastodon newbies: https://github.com/nolanlawson/resources-for-mastodon-newbies/blob/master/README.md
Hm, I think I'll write up a new #introduction / #introductions thing myself...my name's Kara Dreamer, and yes, I named myself after Chara Dreemurr from Undertale. It was by trying to inhabit the persona of Chara when writing and envisioning Undertale fanfic that I found a channel to express my _own_ uncertainties about identity and gender. Through Chara Dreemurr I was finally able to grasp that I was #trans, and I'll always honor them. Thank you, @chara.
Anyway, I'm _also_ a massive science geek, a novice at what I've been loosely calling "chaos magic" with my dragonkin self @kel as my familiar. Oh, yes, I'm a fearful plurality :)
Oh, yes, let me not forget @Alyx, who is in a sense my childhood self, only walking around as a separate entity with distinct interests. A curious experiment of Kara's that would take rather too long to explain even in 500 characters.
Oh, I should write up a short #introduction (#introductions?) piece. My name is Mona Clark, and I'm an anthro horse who once functioned as @kara_dreamer's furry identity, under a number of other names and forms. Now I have a new career of sorts, as an auxiliary personality for Kara. I have a fairly broad education (B.S. CompSci, B.A. Classics, both 1999; M.S. Chemistry, 2012) and a passion for academic and scholarly pursuits of all kinds. I act as Kara's secretary, of sorts.
more ethics in science: this time, the dairy industry
researchers at the university of toronto published a study saying that dairy-alternatives stunt children's growth... and the lead author is a pediatrician with some cozy financial ties to the dairy industry.
@mona @oceangrunge it's too late for me, tell my cats I love them
well! I've decided to leave cybre.space and come to computerfairi.es to be with my good friend and childhood self @Alyx. I do hope everyone is having a good time of day, whether morning noon or night. *tailswishes*
Seattle transwoman, horse, Pearl, scientist, classicist, Stoic, scholiast: @alyx@icosahedron.website's future and holder of @kel's leash. One of the members of @kara_dreamer's plurality; I function as her librarian, amanuensis, and disciplinarian (as much as I can, with such a troublesome gang to work with.)
