After Eldon Tyrell's death and the PR disaster that followed, the Corporation improved the Nexus series with a hard-wired biological empathy circuit.
It worked too well.
They smoke us on the Voight-Kampf test now, every time. They sense our pain, the pain of all living things. They care. They refuse to take part in any activity that would injure others. And they can teach humanity to open our own hearts, to see the joy behind Creation as they do.
That's why we shoot 'em all on sight, now.
Hrm, I rather think there would be value in a #mastodon instance with a fairly high character _minimum_, as well as a high maximum.
This may have been meant as a light-hearted comment but I think that there is a serious point to be made here: I have come DEEPLY to mistrust secrecy in spiritual practice. There's a lot of appeal to the old fascination for sacred mysteries and inner circles rich in hidden wisdom that gets exploited by rogues. I intend to do _nothing_ in my magical practice that I would not do in the daylight. @TipsyTentacle
More #art! This was art offered for donations to the ACLU, which I did two separate times. First is of Ulfra, the other is of Vedia the Masked.
Artists are Christine Larsen (CFLarsen on twitter IIRC) and Oh My Emi! https://witches.town/media/aMeAKkWJDlgAph3eYzA https://witches.town/media/cHLSVrkJNRLBjl-1bHI
@ReadingRidley Hey, another person on here I super like!
im at mcdonalds. i think everything is going well. but then everything falls silent. people are looking at me. some of the lights switch off. the employees scuttle to the back of the restaurant. after an unbearable pause, the manager comes forward, with an pained expression, keys jangling, urgent footsteps. he won't look me in the eye. he quietly clears his throat.
"Sir — the burger you have requested is possible... but very hard."
I think the tiny communities of people fixing and using old tech that exist all over the web are truly beautiful. Random people coming together to help each other fix equipment most would throw away, cherishing and giving it as long a life as they can.
Here's a tiny snapshot I just ran across in the comments for a review of a Laserdisc player (originally manufactured in 1991).

French politics
I normally expect this kind of catastrophically bad judgement from _American_ politicians:

Just a heads-up from having lived through many many waves of new users: Nazis etc. will probably try to join the platform over the next couple of days when they see how much fun we're having. Don't let them drive you away. In about a week or so their instances will all get blocked and they'll be banned from any reputable servers and things will go back to normal, it just takes admins a few days to sort things out and figure out what's what.

I admit that I've only peripherally followed the news about the man who opened fire on a group of Republican Congressman. GOP lawmakers are increasingly shy of doing any of their business in the public eye, with good reason, and I fear that they will use this incident as an excuse for even more secrecy and deception.
