F-Droid, home to thousands of free and open-source Android apps, calls Google's developer verification an "existential threat." An estimated 85% of F-Droid apps could face distribution issues because their developers signed through F-Droid, not through Google. @keepandroidopen keepandroidopen.org

My 81-year-old mom, who's a widow and has no current photo ID was rejected today when we tried to get her a photo ID card. She's been living in Alberta since 1978 and has no current passport.

She had her birth certificate but because she changed her last name when she got married in 1964, they could not issue her an ID card without her marriage certificate.

We did not know where she may have stashed her marriage certificate since she moved into a senior's residence three years ago and had to downsize a lot of her things.

These new rules are going to disenfranchise a lot of people hoping to vote in the referendum. We need to get the word out. If you are contacting another province for birth or marriage certificates, that will take time.

Luckily for my mom, after searching through an old trunk with multiple albums and brown envelopes, we found the original marriage certificate. We'll be back at the registry in a couple of weeks to try and get that ID card.

This UCP government is pure evil.

Yo, I'm heading up a brand-new community project. 👥

We write code by hand. 🤚🏽⌨️

It's a growing opt-in directory of software developers who write code by hand. When you hear someone tell you “nobody does that” you can point to this and say “well these folks do.”

If you're #ProCraft and care about the future of handcrafted software, please add yourself to the list! I'd love to see this grow to 100s of signatories (I know y'all are out there!) and really send a message.

TIL in the 2000s people from Brighton fucking loved to listen to FIP, a french radio station designed to broadcast only calm music with no adverts

except they were receiving a pirate re-broadcast of FIP by one guy who loved the station so much during his holiday in France he wanted to share it around it

UGH I hate concatenating video from two separate sources.

Does anyone know a ffmpegwrapper or anything that'll let me go "take this video, and then this video, and make them the same video format so they can be merged"?

I don't want to have to throw this into Davinci Resolve for a 3 second joke

This seems like a game changer for Godot mod accessibility

Nah, this day is not going so well, *reboots*

Bothered. Parched. Melancholy. In the wrong lane. Distracted. Failing.

@WIRED just broke that facial recognition scanners were shut off for the duration of Taylor Swift’s wedding at Madison Square Garden, demonstrating the dynamics of privilege & power when it comes to who gets to opt out of mass surveillance.
